Dylan and Gabby were really impressed with my fingerprint investigations. Dylan said he’d cycled back over to Holly Way after lunch, and was now certain that the burglars were armed with machine guns. Plus they had a bow and arrow that fired arrowheads dipped in sleeping gas.

When I asked him how he could tell, Gabby showed me a feather she had found in Cypress Drive.

At first I thought it was just a pigeon’s feather. But Dylan said it was much more than that. He said the burglars were using pigeon feathers just like the one Gabby had found to make the feathery bits for the tops of their arrows.

He said once they had made the feathery bits for their arrows, they would dip the pointy bits in sleeping gas, point them up at the sky and shoot them down the chimney of the house they were going to burgle.
